Two members from the Delta Theta Chapter represented the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa at the 2024 Annual Meeting held in Orlando, Florida. The theme for this year revolved around Embracing Innovation and Empowering Professionals; Annual Meeting is an excellent opportunity to meet members from the various chapters and expand your professional network!
From July 25 to July 27, Aalia Pervaiz Meer and Vy Ha Nguyen embarked on the journey to Florida where they presented our Chapter Operations, sharing about the numerous opportunities for professional development within the Delta Theta Chapter. To gain a closer insight on their experiences, we've asked Aalia and Vy to share their experiences and advice for members that would be interested. |

What advice do you have for members interested in participating in the next Mid/Annual Meeting?
"Something I wish I had done before leaving for Annual Meeting was investing some time in researching other chapters beforehand. Given the event's scale, it's impossible to connect with every chapter, yet many have unique success stories and valuable lessons to share. By familiarizing yourself with some of the chapters in advance, you can approach networking more strategically, ensuring you make meaningful connections and maximize the value of your experience." |

What was your highlight and biggest takeaway from attending Annual Meeting? "I don’t think I truly understood the benefits of being a part of an international honor society. Attending Annual Meeting exposed me to some of Beta Alpha Psi's extensive network Being able to connect with a diverse community of professionals and academics from various levels of seniority across the accounting, finance, and information systems fields helped me broaden my perspective on potential career paths, but also deepened my understanding of the different dynamics at play in various sectors. This international network has opened doors to countless possibilities, expanding my horizons in ways I hadn't anticipated." Anything else you would like us to share! "Having been in the club for only a year, I initially felt daunted by the idea of attending the Annual Meeting. I was nervous about not having enough leadership experience to network effectively with other chapters. However, I quickly discovered that everyone was incredibly welcoming and supportive, truly embodying the sense of commUNITY that BAP fosters. For anyone who feels that the Annual or Midyear Meeting isn't 'for them' because they think they don't know enough about the chapter, remember that no one is there to judge you. These opportunities are designed to help you grow and expand your network." Thank you Aalia for sharing your experiences and words of encouragement! |
How has your first semester in Beta Alpha Psi prepared you for this opportunity?
"As last semester was my first time joining Beta Alpha Psi, the club has significantly prepared me for the opportunity to enhance my professional skills and networking experience. The exposure to industry professionals and like-minded individuals has helped me build valuable connections and gain insights into career paths." Thank you for sharing your experiences and representing our chapter! We are excited to see your continued journey as a part of Beta Alpha Psi! |

What was your highlight and biggest takeaway from attending Annual Meeting? "The experience of joining the annual meeting was an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I’m proud to be a member of Beta Alpha Psi. This is the opportunity to meet all of our chapters in our nation, as well as New Zealand and Australia. The annual meeting highlights each chapter's achievements and presents influential keynote speakers that are genuinely inspiring. Participating in the event activities, such as “Community Impact Day” was my favorite part of the whole trip! Moreover, the camaraderie and shared experiences with peers enhance my sense of belonging and pride. The collective energy and enthusiasm often experienced at these events remind me that individual efforts are part of a greater whole." |
