Abhishek (Abhi) Ramchandani
Delta Theta Chapter Faculty Advisor Beta Alpha Psi is proud to announce the addition of our new Faculty Advisor, Dr. Abhishek Ramchandani. Earning his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023, Dr. Ramchandani brings an abundance of knowledge and enthusiasm as our Faculty Advisor. Joining the Shidler College of Business in May 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Accounting, Dr. Ramchandani currently teaches Introductory to Managerial Accounting (ACC 200) and Accounting Theory (ACC 616). In preparation for the Fall 2024 School Semester, we have asked Dr. Ramchandani a few questions on behalf of our current and incoming members. Beta Alpha Psi appreciates your dedication and commitment to helping our students along their educational and professional journey! |
How did you become a Professor for the Shidler College of Business?
"I first came to Shidler as a PhD student at the 2022 HARC. That was a tremendous experience for me—we have such a collegial group of faculty and an absolutely breathtaking environment to work in. So, when I was offered an opportunity to interview for a role, I grabbed it with both hands. Looking back, joining Shidler has been one of the best decisions I have made. I love the classes I teach, the wonderful students I get to interact with, and just one order of importance lower, the view of the mountains from my office."
What are you looking forward to as our new Faculty Advisor?
"I first interacted with BAP members in my first-ever class at Shidler. They were good ambassadors! BAP members tend to have such good energy. For me, the best part of this profession is the ability to interact with students. And with the prospect of continuing my interactions with such energetic and fun BAP students, there is no way I would have given up on the chance to be a faculty advisor—also, probably the lure of the karaoke social event."
Do you have any advice for our current and incoming members at Beta Alpha Psi?
"One thing I would say as a fairly recent college grad (2018), enjoy your time in college. I know everyone is rushing to graduate, get a job, etc. Of course, all of that is exciting, and it will happen. But college gives a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do many things. You are never going to get a chance to take a class just because you are interested in a subject (as a side note, don’t always ask, “How will this class help me in real life?”; sometimes, knowledge is interesting for the sake of knowledge). Meeting people and making friends becomes harder once you are not in college (some people need to become faculty advisors!). Embrace your FOMO in college; do everything that you get an opportunity for (case competitions, intramural tournaments, random classes, etc.) because these opportunities are unlikely to come in the future."
Anything else that you would like us to share!
"I am very excited to be the BAP faculty advisor. Please come talk to me or email me if I can do anything for you (e.g., what classes to take, career progression, etc.). I am also very happy to chat and get to know you. I enjoy cricket, tennis, 80s rock music, and non-fiction books, and I will easily engage in conversations regarding these (among many other things)."
